OUR STORY

Dos Raicez was born from resilience, creativity, and a shared dream.

 

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Elton and Michell during the height of the pandemic,

Dos Raicez began as a passion project after both were laid off from their jobs.

While the circumstances were unexpected, the vision had always been there — this moment simply pushed them to take a leap of faith and bring it to life sooner than planned.

 

What started in their home kitchen, cooking for friends and family, quickly grew into something more. The encouragement, love, and honest feedback they received inspired them to keep going — and soon, Dos Raicez became a growing small business rooted in community and culture.

 

Elton was born in Tijuana, Mexico, and studied culinary arts in Pachuca, Hidalgo, where he developed a strong foundation in Mexican cuisine and technique. His passion for food, flavor, and tradition shines through in every dish he creates.

 

Michell was born in Michoacán, Mexico and brought to the United States as a toddler.

She grew up in the Bay Area and has over 15 years of experience in hospitality, including extensive work in restaurants and bartending. Her love for service, connection, and agave spirits brings warmth and creativity to every event.

 

Today, Dos Raicez is a family-owned business dedicated to creating meaningful food experiences. They proudly collaborate with other small businesses throughout the Bay Area.

Based primarily in Berkeley and traveling throughout the Bay Area for pop-ups and events,

Dos Raicez continues to grow through community support, collaboration, and a deep respect for their roots.

 

At its heart, Dos Raicez is about honoring where we come from, celebrating where we are, and sharing it all through food, hospitality, and connection.
